POSTPONED - Sing A Capella with a Real Barbershop Quartet: Hunterdon Choral Alliance

POSTPONED - Sing A Capella with a Real Barbershop Quartet: Hunterdon Choral Alliance In-Person

*Please note: This program has been postponed due to the inclement weather forecast. Please stay tuned for a rescheduled date.

You’ve seen them on Broadway in The Music Man and featured in countless shows and movies, and now YOU can be a star in a barbershop quartet!  The Hunterdon Choral Alliance brings one of New Jersey’s premier a cappella groups, Ovation Quartet, to the Hunterdon County Library for a fun interactive session where they will sing FOR you and WITH you.  Ovation thrills audiences with their mix of popular, doo wop, jazz and Broadway songs – all with just their four voices.

The evening’s program will cover a bit of history of a cappella music and the American art form of barbershop harmony, a basic lesson on what makes a song barbershop as well as a few songs by these great entertainers.  The session leaders will engage the attendees in simple group singing and use snippets of songs called “tags” to give you an opportunity to hear your voice blending in a quartet.  No group singing experience required and you don’t have to know how to read sheet music.

Masking is not mandatory but is highly recommended as singing is considered a heightened risk activity.

This program brought to you by the Hunterdon County Library System and the Hunterdon County Cultural & Heritage Commission.  Learn more about Ovation Quartet, the Hunterdon Choral Alliance and its two choruses, the men’s Hunterdon Harmonizers and all voice Vocal Synergy.
