John Bartram, Colonial Farmer In-Person
John Bartram, the early 18th-century botanist and explorer known as the "Father of American Botany", was largely self-taught. His contributions included establishing America's first botanic garden on his 102-acre farm in Philadelphia in 1728, identifying and collecting hundreds of native plants, and sending them to England, significantly changing English gardens.
Presented by the Rutgers Master Gardeners of Hunterdon County.
