Friday Morning Book Group - Long Island by Colm Toibin

Friday Morning Book Group - Long Island by Colm Toibin In-Person

Colm Tóibín's novel Long Island is a sequel to Brooklyn, following Eilis Lacey (now Fiorello) and her life in 1970s Long Island with her husband Tony and their children. When Eilis discovers Tony's infidelity and his child with another woman, she is forced to confront the life she has built and returns to her hometown of Enniscorthy, Ireland. There, she reignites an old connection with her childhood friend Jim Farrell, who is now engaged to her widowed former friend, Nancy Sheridan. The novel explores Eilis's internal conflicts about desire, duty, and the possibility of rekindling past loves, all while navigating the pressures of community and family.
