Native Bees

Native Bees In-Person

Approximately 400 species of native bees live in NJ. The speaker’s colorful presentation shows how you can distinguish between a native bee and other flying insects as well as gives you the tools to try and identify them.

 

This adult program is brought to the library in collaboration with the Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Hunterdon County. The Rutgers Master Gardeners of Hunterdon County is a horticultural education, outreach, and service program administered through Rutgers NJAES Cooperative Extension (RCE) of Hunterdon County.

This presentation is led by Jean Miller. Jean is a graduate of Lehigh University with a degree in Industrial Engineering. She is a local Flemington educator and avid beekeeper, having Traveled three times to Kenya with Maryann Frazier (retired from PSU) and Dr. Elliud Muli to study honey bees.
