Honey Bees and Bee Keeping (with observation hive)

Honey Bees and Bee Keeping (with observation hive) In-Person

Learn to tell the differences between honey bees and other stinging insects, the three bee castes and their "jobs", and much more. Our speaker, also a Cornell Master Beekeeper, takes you “inside the hive” to answer all your honey bee questions. A secured observation hive will be on site for patrons to observe the inner workings of a honey bee hive.

This family program is brought to the library in collaboration with the Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Hunterdon County. The Rutgers Master Gardeners of Hunterdon County is a horticultural education, outreach, and service program administered through Rutgers NJAES Cooperative Extension (RCE) of Hunterdon County.

This presentation is led by Jean Miller. Jean is a graduate of Lehigh University with a degree in Industrial Engineering. She is a local Flemington educator and avid beekeeper, having Traveled three times to Kenya with Maryann Frazier (retired from PSU) and Dr. Elliud Muli to study honey bees.
