Love in Nature

In honor of Valentine's Day, enjoy a slide show of various courtship rituals in nature around the world. Brought to you by the Hunterdon County Parks Department.

The male house wren constructs "dummy nests" of a few sticks in several different locations, and brings the female around on a "house-hunting" tour before she decides on the perfect spot for her nest. Male nursery web spiders present a parcel of food wrapped in silk as a gift for their chosen female. Male bowerbirds build a "bower" of sticks and decorate it with blue objects, and then dance for the females.

Register through the Parks Department Website.
