Intro to Collage with ArtVenture In-Person
Collage is a fine art medium that can help you activate your own creativity. This ninety-minute Introduction to Collage workshop, will provide a quick slide-show history of collage including its use in modern European and American art. Examples from local collage artists and from 20th century masters will be shown with a focus on the “cutouts” of Henri Matisse. A discussion of basic materials and techniques that Matisse used will provide a foundation for participants to begin creating their own collages. The majority of the workshop time will be devoted to each participant creating a simple flower in collage using a choice of reference art provided by the instructor.
Acid-free colored papers, scissors, paste, brushes, other tools and materials will be supplied. The goal of the workshop is to get hands-on experience using modern collage techniques and materials, leave with a finished collage suitable for framing, and be inspired to continue working with collage.
The Introduction to Collage workshop will be led by Robert Krell, a Hunterdon county resident and artist who works primarily in collage or acrylics, and a combination of both. Robert is a member of ArtVenture Flemington. He regularly participates in ArtVenture exhibitions at the Stangl building café gallery on Stangl Road in Flemington (https://artventurenj.com/). Robert has exhibited in galleries in SoHo NYC and has sold his work to private collectors. Some of his collage work will be shown during the slide show. Additional works by Robert are on view at SaatchiArt.com/RobertKrell.
