Magical Holiday Season in NYC (Zoom) Online

This virtual tour will explore Rockefeller Center and the history of its Christmas celebration, as well as its wealth of public art, designed to inspire throughout the year. Other stops will be the Christmas Tree iat the Met, with its Neapolitan Baroque Crèche., and a visit to The Jewish Museum, which has the largest collection of Hanukkah Lamps in the world, c.1050 outstanding designs from countries around the world, from ancient to contemporary.  The tour will conclude with Kiki Smith's beautiful new permanent window for the Eldridge Street Synagogue. Our tour guide is art historian Sylvia Laudien-Meo, whos for the past 3 decades has been teaching at NYC art museums (MoMA, Guggenheim and the Jewish Museum), and running tours and talks. Sylvia came to the US as an Art History graduate student on a scholarship for Columbia Univ.  Presented by the Kemmerer Library of Harding Twp., a member of MAIN.
