Intro to Longarm Quilting

Intro to Longarm Quilting In-Person

This is a class with a Makerspace Staff member to become certified to use the Handi Quilter Longarm quilting machine at the Headquarters library makerspace.

Prerequisite knowledge: You need to have a completed a quilt top ready for the longarm. This means you have a quilt top finished and are learning the machine to be able to use the longarm to sew your finished quilt top, batting and backing together. You won't use your quilt top in the first lesson, we use library furnished materials so you can feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them. 

For this introductory class the library will provide all the materials needed to learn how to use the quilting machine. 

During this class you will learn :

  • Introduction to Handi Quilter's Pro-Stitcher computer software
  • E2E (Edge to Edge) quilting
  • Properly loading a quilt onto the frame

This appointment is for ages 18+.
