Introduction to Ceramics : Adventures in handbuilding

Introduction to Ceramics : Adventures in handbuilding In-Person

Work on handbuilding a clay slab project using templates, a hump mold or handbuilding your own creation in this Makerspace ceramics class ! To create your project, each participant will be provided with 1lb of clay and a selection of underglazes for decorating, texturing tools and molds.  Participants are welcome to bring in their own items to add texture or impressions to the clay, such as lace, flowers, plants etc. This class is for ages 15+

It's important to note that ceramics is a process and requires drying time and two kiln firings to complete. After bisque firing the library will apply a clear glaze to your project and glaze fire it.Once the firing process is complete, your finished ceramics will be available for pickup at the Makerspace during Makerspace Open Hours. approximately July 5th. We are excited to see the ceramic projects that emerge!

Please note that due to the unpredictable nature of firing ceramics in a kiln, we cannot guarantee that all pieces will successfully make it through the entire process. However, we will make every effort to maximize the success rate.

Projects not claimed by the end of July will be declared orphans and given away to a good home!
