Celebrate Pride!

Celebrate Pride! In-Person

Celebrate Pride at the Hunterdon County Library! Join us for a collaborative art project for all ages, a children's craft, and a story that will be read at 1:30pm and repeated at 2:30pm. Fun for everyone!

For the collaborative art project, we will be making an All the Colors of the Rainbow Community Collage in partnership with the Flemington QTs! Join us to learn more about the meaning and inspiration behind the original pride flag designed by Gilbert Baker in 1979. Each of the colors in the original flag, including the now omitted hot pink and turquoise stripes, represents a particular theme within the LGBTQIA+ community. Explore how the rainbow became a symbol for the queer and trans community and how the flag and its colors have evolved over time to represent the full spectrum of diverse identities and experiences. Together, we will be creating a community collage of colors to create our own pride banner to be displayed at the library.
