Dams and Dam Removals in New Jersey - Hybrid (Sierra Club Presentation)

Dams and Dam Removals in New Jersey - Hybrid (Sierra Club Presentation) In-Person / Online

Beth Styler Barry, director of river restoration for The Nature Conservancy in NJ, and former executive director of the Musconetcong Watershed Association, will give an overview of dams and dam removals in NJ. There are 1,700 regulated dams in the state’s rivers and many more unregulated dams. According to experts, the fragmentation of our river systems plays a huge role in loss of biodiversity and abundance of freshwater species and the ecosystems that depend on them, problems that will likely worsen as our climate warms. Case studies on the Musconetcong and other local rivers will be featured. This is a HYBRID event, and can be attended either in-person at NCB Library in Clinton, or via Zoom.

A Meet & Greet will precede each talk.  The Hunterdon Warren group & Central Jersey group of the Sierra Club meetings at NCB are open to all, so feel free to sign up or drop in!  Refreshments will be available.

The Zoom link will be with your confirmation email.  Meeting ID: 875 8468 8019  Passcode:739035
